Ushers

HOSPITALITY TEAM
Serving Role: 10:30 am – 11:50 am

WHY?

Coming to church for the first time could be intimidating. Meeting a welcoming friend can help people feel more at ease and desire to come back to church which leads them to receive Christ and grow in their faith.

If there are too many chairs, the room may feel empty. Yet, not enough chairs may cause late-comers to feel forced to sit in the front row or right next to a stranger. By adding rows as we go, we can create an environment shaped to the amount of people we have that week!

Role

  • Arrive at 10:30am.
  • Join the Pre-Service prayer meeting upstairs at 10:35am.
  • 1 Usher each week will be downstairs, outside the main entrance welcoming guests and guiding new people/families where to go (the kids area, restrooms, worship upstairs).
  • Other 3 ushers remain upstairs, standing near the back, ready to welcome people as they come into the Worship Center. Guide them to the coffee area and encourage them to find a seat.
  • As the chairs fill up during the service, be aware of the need to pull out more chairs and make new rows for late-comers to sit in.
  • If there is someone who has a walker or wheelchair, move chairs and adjust them so they can comfortably be in a row.
  • During the Connection Card & Tithe collection, you will be given a section to be in. Stand next to the first row in that section and help smoothly pass the bucket between the isles. Once the bucket has made its way through all the rows, an usher will make sure the bucket gets to someone from the Money Counting Team, who will be waiting in the back of the room with a black bag.
